The scientific name of nylon is polyacrylamide fiber, which is a general term for polyamide fibers produced in China and internationally referred to as nylon. Nylon filament is a synthetic fiber filament formed by condensation reaction and melt spinning of adipic acid, hexanediamine or caprolactam, which can be divided into monofilament and multifilament.
Nylon monofilament refers to a nylon filament composed of only one single filament, also known as polyamide monofilament. Nylon monofilament has high strength, good elasticity, heat resistance, and poor sun resistance. Nylon monofilament with a diameter of 0.1~2mm has poor weaving performance and can only be used as fishing line, strings, ropes, tennis racket materials, etc. for larger diameters; Small in diameter, can be used to weave women's long and short socks, pantyhose, scarves, filters, screens, stage curtains, etc; Moderate diameter, can be used to separate horizontal rows in yarn woven piece clothing or socks.
Nylon multifilament is a nylon filament composed of multiple monofilaments, also known as polyamide multifilament, nylon multifilament, or Kaplan multifilament. According to the number of carbon atoms in the monomer, it can be divided into nylon 6 type, nylon 66 type, etc. According to strength and elongation, it can be divided into civilian type and industrial type. The former has a fracture strength of 0.35-0.53N/tex (4-6 gf/dan) and a fracture elongation of 24%~36%; The fracture strength of the latter is 0.62-0.79N/tex (7-9gf/dan), and the fracture elongation is 18%~24%. Nylon multifilament, due to its advantages of high strength, good elasticity, wear resistance, and good chemical resistance, can be used to weave knitted underwear, bras, elastic tight fitting clothes, bodybuilding pants, socks, gloves, as well as fishing nets, ropes, conveyor belts, filter fabrics, parachutes, etc. Due to its poor sun and light resistance, nylon multifilament is not suitable as a material for use under eye contact conditions.
